Saint Mary Church, one of the oldest churches in the Ionian coast, is situated in the southern part of the village of Vuno, above the national road that connects Vlora and Himara. We lack information on the exact age of the building but a documented restoration of the church on 1782 makes us believe that it belongs to the beginning of the 18th century or earlier. The frescos on the walls of the church, although severely damaged during the years, still conserve the vividness of the colors and their originality, which gives a great value to this special little church.
Problems
Unfortunately outsiders do not know the values of this church. Only the inhabitants of the village and few regular visitors do know about its existence, while even for them it is hard to find, because of the lack of directions.
Another problem is that of the conservation of the very unique frescos of the church. Most of the frescos have been damaged by natural causes, because of the bad condition of the roof, which seeks immediate intervention because of the impact it has on the frescos and the building as a whole. Also a lot of damage has been done by the unprofessional restoration performed in the church some years ago.
Goal
Members of our association together with the help of specialist Ridvana Kristofori have identified the problems that needs to be solved in order to conserve this unique little church and to make use of them in increasing the touristy potential of the area. Approximate calculations of the required financial means and a working plan have been made. Actually the organization is engaged in finding the necessary funds to make this intervention possible.

Qellimi yne eshte te beje te mundur gjetjen e fondeve per restaurimin e çatise se Kishes. Per kete eshte bere e mundur realizimi i nje preventivi punimesh qe do te kryhen. Ky preventv eshte pergatitur nga ing. Ridvana Kristofori e cila ka marre persiper edhe ndjekjen e punimeve.

Kisha e Shen Merise eshte nje nga kishat me te vjetra te zones se bregdetit te detit Jon.Ajo gjendet e pozicionuar ne pjesen jugore te fshatit Vuno, mbi rrugen kryesore.
Problematika
Per te vizituar kete kishe, duhet patjeter te pyesesh per vendndodhjen e saj apo te marresh nje udherrefyes, pasi mungon cdo lloj sinjalistike qe te drejton tek ajo. Datohet nje restaurim I kishes me 1782-in, por kisha mendohet te jete edhe me e vjeter. Ne kishe gjenden afreske, te cilat e ruajne akoma origjinalitetin e ngjyrave, por megjithater ato jane te demtuara ne pjesen me te madhe.
